668,880. Mounting and weighting rollers in textile drawing apparatus. SACOLOWELL SHOPS. Aug. 23, 1949 [Sept. 3, 1948], No. 21908/49. Classes 120(ii) and 120(iii) A drawing mechanism for roving and spinning frames has top rolls supported on a bar parallel to a weighting arm mounted for swinging movements in a vertical plane and a fulcrum member is interposed between the bar and arm for transmitting the pressure of the arm through the bar to the top rolls. Top rolls 4, 5 are mounted in roll housings 14, 14<SP>1</SP> adjustably and pivotally supported on the bar 22 pivotally secured to a pin 30 located in a bell-crank weighting arm 24. Transmission of weighting pressure from the arm 24 to the top rolls 4, 5 takes place through the fulcrum member 41 adjustable on the bar 22, which is connected with the arm 24 at its front end by a screw 28 and apertured link 27. A scale 44 serves to indicate the distance of the fulcrum member 41 and back rolls 3, 5 from the front rolls 2, 4. An upper fibre controlling roll 12 is pressed against an apron 7 and lower roll 6 by a spring- loaded hook 13. The weighting arm 24 is loaded by a leaf spring 35, held at one end by a pin 36 and bearing at its other end against a link 33, threaded through a pivot 34 on a link 31 pivoted on a bar 32, to provide a toggle mechanism, so that when an operating lever 40 rigidly secured to the link 31 is pushed backwards, weighting pressure will be released and the arm 24 may be raised about its fulcrum 25.
