Abstract

573,729. Lubricating. TECALEMIT, Ltd., and LE CLAIR, C. C. S. May 16, 1942, No. 6663. [Class 12 (iii)] The centrifugal flow of lubricant in a housing revolving on a fixed shaft is diverted to the bearings by means of a wide fin or vane secured to the shaft and projecting into the body of oil. A reduced part 2A of the shaft carries a wide strap in two parts 30, 31 secured by bolts and having flanges 32, 33 which form fins projecting into a recess in a sleeve 5 fixed to the housing. This sleeve recess has apertures 26, 27 communicating with the reservoir 16, ducts 16A being provided in the sleeve flange 5B to admit oil to the shaft end-thrust bearing. The number of the straps or fins may be varied.
