Abstract
568,756. Lubricators. MICHELL BEARINGS, Ltd., HILL, A., and HALL, R. Aug. 18, 1943, No. 13435. [Class 12 (iii)] A shaft bearing a has two separate compartments b, c which receive lubricant when the shaft is running or idle respectively, in the former case from one or more grooves formed by a rotating channel f fixed to or driven from the shaft e, the oil being fed directly to the inside of the channel which does not dip into oil during normal running. The oil is collected by a scoop h into compartment b and flows through the bearing and ports l, r into the sump c. The oil on the exterior of the channel f is collected by a scraper k. The oil within the channel is de-aerated during its rotation and, to assist this, the oil may pass through a series of grooves in the channel and into the collecting groove.
