Abstract

549,559. Relief valves. HEYWOOD, C. F. June 16, 1941, No. 7601. [Class 135] A relief valve for compressed air apparatus comprises a main valve 10 opened against the action of a spring 11 by fluid pressure admitted to a spring-loaded bellows 7 through a spring- loaded inlet valve acted on by the pressure in a reservoir 4. The valve 10 is closed when an exhaust valve 20 is opened to vent the bellows to atmosphere through a passage 21. The valve 20 is at first held closed by reservoir pressure admitted to a bellows 22 through a passage 1a acting against a loading spring and opens when a sufficient pressure is built up in the chamber 13.
