Abstract
259,907. Ingersoll-Rand Go., (Assignees of Longacre, F. van D.). Oct. 19, 1925, [Convention date]. Regulating compression.-A main clearance chamber H communicates with the cylinder through an opening controlled by a valve O guided on a stem L. The valve is opened by a spring and closed by the stem of a piston actuated by fluid pressure supplied by a pipe T, the other side of the piston being open to atmosphere through a pipe U. Auxiliary clearance chambers V, W are each connected independently, with the main clearance chamber through valves similarly constructed and actuated, so that three degrees of clearance may be attained. The number of auxiliary chambers may be increased.
