Abstract

432,410. Valves. ROSS OPERATING VALVE CO., 6488, Epworth Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Bowen, G. M. ; 6488, Epworth Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.) Dec. 12, 1934, No. 35665. Convention date, Sept. 22. [Class 135] A valve structure for controlling the admission and exhausttion of compressed air to opposite ends of a cylinder for operating a piston comprises a common inlet port 5, Fig. 9, an outlet port 8, 14 for each end of the cylinder, and a reducing valve 23, Fig. 4, between the pressure chambers 4, 16 communicating with the ports 8, 14 respectively so that the air supplied to opposite ends of the cylinder is at different pressures. A valve 11 controls the flow of pressure air from the chamber 4 to the outlet port 8 and an exhaust valve 32 puts the port 8 into communication with a passage 30 extending to an exhaust chamber 19 and outlet 22, the valves 11, 32 being opened and closed alternately. A similar valve 18 controls the admission of pressure air to the outlet port 14 which is put into communication with the passage 30 and chamber 19 bv a valve 33 when the valve 18 is closed. The valves 11, 18, 32, 33 are operated by a handle 34 so that when one end of the cylinder is being exhausted, the other end is receiving pressure air. The reducing valve 23, comprises a spring-pressed ball or disc 24, the spring pressure being adjustable from outside the structure by a screwed plug 27 to vary the difference in pressure in the air supplied to the opposite ends of the cylinder.
