478,412. Breathing-apparatus. DEGEA AKT.-GES. AUERGES. May 27, 1937, No. 14767. Convention date, July 4, 1936. [Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] In an automatic lung-operated oxygen supply device for breathing-apparatus the oxygen supply valve 6 is opened by the oxygen supply pressure on a diaphragm 5 when the pressure in the chamber 8 above the diaphragm is released by an auxiliary valve 11 itself controlled by a further diaphragm 14 which is open to the breathing bag 4 by a passage 17. The valves 6, 11 seat on main and auxiliary nozzles 3, 10 respectively. The oxygen inlet I communicates by a passage 7 with the chamber 8. When the auxiliary valve is closed, the fluid pressures on the two sides of the diaphragm 5 balance and a spring 9 retains the valve 6 closed. When a vacuum is produced in the breathing bag, the diaphragm 14 descends and through a pressure plate 13 and levers 12 opens the valve 11 against a spring 15. A bore 18 connects the valve 11 with the passage 17.
