Abstract
479,042. Fluid - actuated valves. SUGG & CO., Ltd.; W., and SUGG, P. C. July 29, 1936, No. 21012. [Class 135] A combined gas governor and cut-off valve device which is opened when the pressure is raised above the normal and closed when the pressure is reduced to a value below the normal comprises a diaphragm 9 the area of which exposed to the inlet pressure is reduced when the diaphragm or a plate 9 secured thereto engages a seat 11 formed on a flanged disc 10 in which the seat aperture 12 of the gas governor valve 14 is formed. After the diaphragm valve has been raised from its seat, the pressure may be reduced to normal without the valve closing and conversely when the diaphragm valve is closed, the pressure may be raised to normal again without its opening. The diaphragm is clamped inside a chamber 6 by a cover 8 and loaded by a weight 15 screwed on the valve stem 13. The flanged disc 10 divides the chamber 6 into two compartments respectively communicating with the gas inlet 2 and the gas outlet 3. The valve 14 preferably passes through the aperture 12 with a slight clearance.
