Abstract

543,412. Drying-apparatus. HARRISON, A. C. Nov. 18, 1940, No. 16598. [Class 34 (ii)] Air circulated through drying chambers 12 by a fan 6 is heated in passing over vertical tubular heat exchangers 9 formed with internal and external studs or cones 9a and arranged in a lagged chamber 8 at one end of the drying chambers. The heated air passes under a vertical baffle 18 and is directed through an end flue chamber 15 around a horizontal stepped baffle 17. Fresh air is admitted through an aperture 20 at the top of the drying chambers and circulated air escapes through a damper controlled outlet 19 at the top of the heating chamber. In a modification, air is returned to the fan from the end flue chamber through a conduit extending along the top of the drying chambers.
