Abstract
526,553. Lubricants. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. March 20, 1939, No. 8820. Convention date, March 25, 1938. [Class 91] [Also in Group IV] Lubricants for cellulose derivative textile materials have a basis of a sulphonated oil made by sulphonating a vegetable oil with sulphuric acid, dissolving the sulphonated oil in at least its own volume of an organic solvent, preferably ethyl alcohol, neutralizing the excess sulphuric acid, separating the sulphonated oil and removing the solvent. For use as a textile lubricant, the sulphonated cil may be mixed with a mineral or vegetable oil and with a small proportion of an oxidized mineral oil or sperm oil. Small quantities of sulphonated or sulphated fatty alcohols, e.g., the sulphation products of oleyl, stearyl, lauryl or palmityl alcohols may also be added, together with a small amount of a fatty acid, e.g., oleic acid, as a blending agent.
