Abstract
523,218. Lenses. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and WARMISHAM, A. Dec. 29, 1938, No. 37685. Drawings to Specification. [Class 97 (i)] In a projection objective consisting of a simple double-concave asymmetrical component behind two simple convergent components and in front of a third simple convergent component, the shallow side of the divergent component being towards the front components, the mean refractive indices of at least two of the three convergent components are greater than 1.75, and that of the divergent component is greater than 1.8 ; the arithmetical sum of the radii of the front surface of the front component and the rear surface of the rear component may be greater than 1.25 times and less than 2.5 times the equivalent focal length of the objective, the radius of the front surface of the divergent component may be greater than that of the rear surface of the rear component, both such surfaces being concave towards the front, and the radius of the rear surface of the rear component may be less than 1.75 times the equivalent focal length of the objective. All three convergent components may have a mean refractive index greater than 1.75. The glasses may be as described in Specification 462,304, [Group XXIIII.
