Abstract

521,016. Pipe joints. TURNER & NEWALL, Ltd., and NEVE, K. Nov. 9, 1938, No. 32552. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint for plain-ended asbestos-cement pipes the pipe ends are surrounded by a sleeve 3 and collars 4 which are all of asbestos-cement and are held together by bolts 8, the bolts compressing packing rings 6 in recesses in the sleeve and being wholly concealed by the sleeve and collars. The recesses 9 containing the nuts and bolt-heads may be filled with an asbestosbitumen composition, and rubber washers may surround the bolts between the collars and the sleeve.
