Abstract

478,477. Pipe joints. DEUTSCHE EISENWERKE AKT.-GES., and BUDERUS'- SCHE EISENWERKE. April 30, 1937, No. 12347. Convention date, May 2, 1936. [Class 99 (i)] In a spigot-and-socket joint having a rolled-in packing 6, a recess 9 at the mouth of the socket has an inclined surface parallel with an inclined surface on the spigot, the recess being filled after the rolling operation by a sealing ring 8 which is of a shape before application to the recess that is substantially the same as that of the recess. The ring 8 may have fingers 12 which extend through recesses in an annular projection 10. The ring 6 may be rolled in. from the recess 9 instead of the recess 11 which is then omitted. The recess 11 may be filled with packing such as aluminium wool.
