Abstract

537,484. Pipe joints. TURNER & NEWALL, Ltd., and TURNER, L. A. Dec. 21, 1939, No. 32688. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint for plain-ended pipes of asbestoscement in which a packing ring 4 has a face 9 sloping inwards towards the axis of the joint so that the ring is compressed on assembly ina recess 2 in an asbestos-cement socket or sleeve 1, the shape and size of the ring and recess are such that the ring fills the recess when the pipe has been pushed home into the socket. The ring is preferably of forked cross-section and its face 9 conical. The ring may be anchored by glue in the recess.
