Abstract

535,441. Pipe joints. SIMMONDS, O. E., and SIMMONDS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, Ltd. Dec. 21, 1939, Nos. 32710 and 32711. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint in which a packing member is supported on an internal tube 5 and compressed within the flared ends 4 of the pipes, the packing is confined by a ring 10. The packing member may be in two parts divided by a rib 12 on the tube and a rib 11 on the ring 10. The rib 12 may have surfaces 13 inclined to the joint axis at a less acute angle than that of the conical pipe ends.
