Abstract
510,621. Rotary engines. MASEYK, A. W. Feb. 22, 1938, No. 5492. [Class 110 (ii)] An engine or pump of the outwardly-sliding vane type has a rotor 9 mounted on a shaft supported in bearings 4, 5, and end plates 10, 11, which revolve on bearings 6, 7. Trunnions 13 extend from the vanes and enter grooves in the end plates. One vane has longer trunnions 15 than the others. Recesses 17 are provided in the end plates, and connected to the inner sides of the plates by holes for pressure-balancing purposes. The centre space of the rotor communicates with the suction port, so that leakage fluid is sucked out. The bearings 6, 7, may be dispensed with in small pumps. The Provisional Specification states that the eccentricity of the rotor in its casing may be varied, to vary the delivery of the pump.
