Abstract

454,878. Arrangement of wheels of road and rail vehicles. DYSON, J., and DYSON & CO., Ltd., R. A., 76, Grafton Street, Liverpool. April 25, 1935, No. 12418. [Class 108 (ii)] A road vehicle adapted for combined road and rail transport of the kind described in Specification 388,168 having in addition to the road wheels auxiliary wheels, rollers or the like adapted to engage rails on the railway truck, the auxiliary wheels &c. being disposed outside the road wheel track. The road wheels 1 are provided with rail track wheels 3 on the outside, the wheels 3 comprising annular concentric members which may be integral with, or connected to, the road wheel. As shown in Fig. 4, the rail wheel comprises a cylindrical integral portion 3 with an inturned flange 8. Fig. 5 shows another form in which the annular portion 3 forms part of a disc 3<a> adapted to be bolted to the road wheel and being provided with webs 7. The rails 6 on the truck 4 are supported by plates 6<a>. Skids may take the place of the auxiliary wheels.
