Abstract
445,071. Valve modulating circuits. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C., 1, Lorenzweg, Tempelhof, Berlin. June 7, 1935, Nos. 16595 and 16596. Convention dates, Feb. 5 and April 24. [Class 40 (v)] The degree of modulation in a radio beacon transmitter is maintained constant by controlling the bias of the modulating or a preceding stage. The Figure shows a rectifier G, biassed to obtain a delay voltage and fed from the output which controls over a filter the bias of amplifier II. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), part of the non-modulated carrier is rectified and used for bias control since constancy of amplitude of the tone modulation frequency is readily ensured. In the latter arrangement a three electrode rectifier is employed the potential being applied to grid and anode while the grid is given a separate bias potential so that the rectifier working point can be adjusted to obtain a delay voltage independently of the amplifier bias. The rectifier bias may be controlled in dependency with the modulation tone or with the supply voltage.
