551,890. Automatic ,control systems for high frequency oscillation generators. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Sept. 8, 1941. No: 11475. Convention date, Sept. 6, 1940. [Class 38;(iv)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL] Oscillation frequency:-A frequency modulated oscillator is stabilized by a piezo-electric crystal arranged to detect variations in mean frequency and to develop a correcting, voltage which is applied to the oscillator. An oscillation circuit 30 and a reactance valve 10 are connected to a master valve oscillator 20. A frequency modulating transformer 18 is connected to the electrode 14 of the valve 10. An oscillation circuit 64 is fed with the modulated energy and connected to electrodes 50, 52 of a four-electrode holder of a piezo-electric crystal, electrodes 56, 58 of which are respectively over- and under neutralized to obtain output curves 70, 72 as shown in Fig. 3a. Chokes 66, 68 and diode rectifiers 59, 60 in series with resistances 40, 42 are connected as shown and a time constant filter allows only the slow variations of frequency to pass to lead 17 voltages whereby the potential of electrode--14 is varied to correct them. A modified arrangement is described wherein an inductive reactance valve and a three electrode crystal holder are used: In this modification amplifying valves are connected between the output electrodes and the rectifiers.
