Abstract
558,884. Converting. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. April 9, 1942, No. 4684. Convention date, April 4, 1941. [Class 38 (ii)] In a system in which a high voltage D.C., produced from a low voltage source B by means of an oscillation generator 20 and a rectifier 26, is supplied to a variable-impedance load such as a television receiver 10, the bias on the grid 21 of the oscillation generator 20 is automatically varied with variations of the load impedance so as to maintain constant the potential applied to the load circuit. In the form shown the high tension current passes from the rectifier 26 to the anodes 17, 18 of the television receiver and thence through a resistance 28 to ground. As the television signal varies so will vary the space current of the tube 15 and the potential across the resistance 28 and this will vary the bias of the grid 29 of a valve 30, which will in turn vary the anode current of the valve 30 and thus the potential of the grid 21 which is connected to a tapping on a resistance 31. The amplitude of the oscillations from the oscillation generator is thus varied and the potential of the high voltage rectified current, which would otherwise vary because of the change of impedance of the load, is kept constant.
