Abstract

599,382. Valve modulating circuits. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS- & ELECTRO-HOLDING AKT.-GES. Jan. 23, 1945, No. 1823. Convention date, Jan. 4, 1944. [Class 40 (v)] In a radio transmitter in which the H.F. power stage is anode modulated, modulation of the same order of magnitude is applied additionally in antiphase to the grid of the power stage and in phase to the anode of the driver stage. Modulating signals from the output transformer 13 of the modulator 12 are applied to the anodes of the H.F. power valve 7. The audio e.m.f. appearing across a choke 9<1> in the cathode circuit of the valves 7 is applied over a blocking condenser to the winding 22 of a transformer 21. The e.m.f. across the winding 23 is applied as grid modulation to the valves 7, and that across the winding 24 as anode modulation to the driver valve 2. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the choke 9<1> and transformer 21 are omitted, grid modulation being derived from an additional winding on the transformer 13, and anode modulation for the valve 7 from a tap on the choke 14. Phaseadjusting networks may be included in the various modulation paths. The H.F. power stage, while preferably operated in class C, may alternatively operate in class A or B.
