Abstract

491,805. Valve modulating circuits. FERNSEH AKT.-GES. March 8, 1937, No. 6830. Convention date, March 6,1936. [Class 40 (v)] In a modulator comprising a multi-electrode valve, carrier frequency potentials are produced on two electrodes and combined in opposition in an output circuit; the distribution of current between the electrodes being controlled by modulation on a grid between them. The anode A and grid G3 of the hexode, Fig. 2, are maintained positive by the high tension source connected to the tapping on the output transformer D and the carrier is applied to the control. grid G1. The carrier frequency currents in the primary of D are in opposition and their relative magnitude is controlled by the potential on the grid G4 so that the carrier frequency output may be reduced to zero by adjustment of the primary tapping or suitable biassing of G4. The modulating potentials are applied by transformer C to grid G4. In modifications, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the control grid G1 has a fixed bias and the carrier is applied directly in push-pull or parallel to the output electrodes ; the modulated output being taken in parallel or push-pull.
