Abstract
532,180. Valve modulating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Aug. 18, 1939, No. 23925. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1938. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A facsimile or like signal transmission system comprises a pair of double-grid valves with the signal applied in parallel to one grid of each valve, and the tone or carrier frequency applied in push-pull to the other grids, the output being taken in push-pull from the anodes, and combined in the load circuit with tone or carrier frequency directly applied thereto. A light beam reflected from the picture is projected on the light-sensitive cathode 13 of an electron-multiplier 15, the output voltage being taken either from the last secondary-emitter 21 or from the final anode 23. The output is applied in parallel to the inner grids of two pentode valves 37, 38, the screen grids of which are coupled in pushpull to a source 43 of tone or carrier frequency. The modulated output is taken in push-pull from the anodes and is fed to an amplifier 55, which is also fed with unmodulated carrier through a phase-adjusting circuit 61, 62.
