Abstract

326,452. Tyrer, C. C. Dec. 11, 1928. Connecting continuously delivered filaments to the winding-means; rollers. - To facilitate the starting in spinning artificial silk by ring and traveller apparatus an additional waste roller 6 is mounted adjacent to the spindle and the bobbin 3 is provided with a hook 7, so that after the filament is threaded into the traveller and is being wound on the waste roller, the part extending between the traveller and waste roller may be engaged by the hook, as shown, and the bobbin placed on the spindle which is then released from its brake and so commences the spinning operation. The waste roller may be fixed or may be removable after use. The bobbin may be provided with a counterbalance to the hook 7. In the Provisional Specification it is stated that, alternatively, the bobbin may be retained on the spindle and the filament guided to the hook.
