Spindle - apparatus; spindledriving apparatus.-A spinning and twisting device of the ring and traveller type to which thread is supplied continuously is adapted to permit the rapid substitution of an empty bobbin for a full bobbin and comprises a cylinder F, Fig. 2. surrounding the spindle B carrying the bobbin C and normally situated inside the bobbin. The cylinder F is rotated at a peripheral speed equal to the speed of feed of the thread and when it is required to change a bobbin the spindle B is lifted, as in Fig. 2, the thread being wound on the cylinder F and the traveller E remaining stationary. In a simplifled form the spindle B is driven through the cylinder F, a pin K, Fig. 3, fixed to the cylinder F engaging a groove in the spindle B.
