Abstract
295,676. Klimburg, R. Aug. 17, 1927, [Convention date]. Stoppers with valves.-A device for closing collapsable tubes and other receptacles comprises a cock plug the handle of which is replaced by a socket rotating about the axis of the discharge channel, and a connection between the plug and socket adapted on movement of the socket to turn the plug about an axis at right-angles to the discharge channel. The upper and lower parts 3, 2 of a socket are rotatably secured together by a pin and groove connection 4, 5 and enclose a sphere formed with a discharge channel 6. A pin projection 7 on the rotatable socket member 3 engages a recess 8 in the sphere to constrain it to rotate about an axis at right angles to the channel 6 and a second pin 9 in the fixed member 2 is disposed a quarter of a turn from the pin 7 to engage in a groove 10 in the surface of the sphere and rotate it as the member 3 is rotated. To ensure a clean cut-off, the orifice of the channel 6 is constituted by the edge of the spherical surface and the flat surface of the socket member 3, and is of the same diameter as the channel.
