Abstract
259,594. Onoplat Co., (Assignees of Lentz, H.). Oct. 7, 1925, [Convention date]. Stoppers w i t h valves. -- Relates to the closure for collapsable tubes &c. described in Specification 252,146 and comprising a cap 5 rotatable upon a cylindrical neck 2 into open and closed positions and formed with a central discharge aperture 8 adapted to be closed by a centre piece 3 in the neck. The cap co-operates with the neck to provide two valve-like seating surfaces, one at the outer edge 6 of the cap and one at the discharge aperture 8, a fluid tight closure also being formed between them by the cap and the cylindrical neck. According to the invention, the cap is secured to the neck by a pin 12 which is threaded through diametrically opposite helical slots 10 in the neck 2 and guided by their upper and lower surfaces 15, 14 so that the cap is raised or lowered when it is rotated on the neck. The helical slots have horizontal lower portions which permit the closure to be locked in the closed position for transport. In a modification, the crown of the cap is made resilient to compensate for any irregularities in the valve seats.
