Abstract
646,667. Stoppers. NADAI, A. Sept. 17, 1948, Nos. 24433 and 24434. Convention dates, Oct. 4, 1947, and May 26, 1948. [Class 125(iii)] A screw cap stopper 1 for a tube, bottle or the like has two arms 2 having lugs 7 which slidably and pivotally secure the cap to a ring 9 by engaging in grooves 8, the ring 9 being rotatably mounted on the neck of the tube or bottle below a threaded part 4. The ring is held against axial movement by a flange 10 which snaps into a groove 11 at the base of the neck. The grooves 8 impart springiness to the ring 9 whereby it may be passed over the screw threads 4 to embrace the plain part of the neck. The lugs 7 are of rectangular section, the vertical dimension of the lugs being greater than the width of the slots 8 so that, as the cap is swung away from the mouth of the container the lugs 7 bind in the slots and retain the cap in a non-obstructing position. The resilience of the arms 2 permits the lugs 7 to be sprung into the slots 8. In a modification, the flange 10 is dispensed with, a pin being arranged to project inwardly from the ring 9 to engage a circular groove in the neck of the container, just below the screw threads 4. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the lugs 7 are pivoted in a sleeve which is rotatable and slidable on the neck of the container. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
