Abstract
590,068. Jar closures. FARISH, T. G. Aug. 17, 1944, No. 15739. [Class 125 (iii)] A reversible cap or closure for preserving jars and like containers has, on opposite faces thereof, annular ribs a<1>, a<2>, of different diameter, so that rib a' will fit with the mouth of, say, a 1 1b. jar and rib a<2> within that of a 2 lb. or larger jar. The rib is surrounded by a rubber or other packing ring c, held in fluid-tight contact with the jar mouth by a spring d or other clamp. The spring or clamp may be formed in two parts, each having a number of holes by which, and a securing screw, the spring may be adjusted for use with different sizes of container; or it may be formed for such use without modification. The cap may be of glass, synthetic resin, metal, or other suitable material.
