Abstract
280,222. Hawksford, M. W., and Hawksford, G. F. April 6, 1927, [Convention date]. Stoppers, means to prevent loss of; stoppers with valves. - A closure for collapsable tubes and other containers comprises an internally threaded socket 13 and a similarly threaded cover part 14 eccentrically pivoted thereto by means of a vertical pin 17 in bosses 15, 16 on the socket and cover part respectively, the arrangement permitting the cover part to be swung in an horizontal plane to uncover completely the mouth of the tube &c. The thread of the cover part forms a continuation of the thread of the socket. To open the tube &c., the socket and cover parts are unscrewed until the cover part is clear of the threaded neck, whereupon the cover part is turned in a plane at right angles to the axis of the neck. An inturned flange 21 on the socket prevents complete removal of the closure and a packing member 19 in the cover part ensures tight closing of the tube &c.
