Abstract

647,229. Stoppers. REST, J. N. VAN, and CHOVIL, W. A. Dec. 16, 1947, No. 33160. [Class 125(iii)] In closures having a body member 13 formed with a bore 14 accommodating a rotatable plug 20 and a resilient packing the bore has a cylindrical upper part and an enlarged lower part in which the enlarged upper part 25 of a grommet of rubber or rubberlike material is located, its lower part 24 fitting into a hole 19 in the body and engaging the mouth of the container. The bore is open to the exterior through an aperture 16 in the base of a groove 15. The plug can be rotated by end discs to bring the inner end of a plug duct 31 and a hole 27 (not shown), through the grommet into register. Movement of the plug is limited by engagement of the ends of an arcuate slot in one of the end caps of the bore with a pin projecting from the body.
