Abstract

289,536. Peter, L. H., and Westing- house Brake & Saxby Signal Co., Ltd. Jan. 28, 1927. Electrical systems, automatic. - Signalling current at low voltage, either alternating or unidirectional, is supplied to the track sections from a high voltage direct current power circuit 2, 3 by converting the direct current into interrupted or pulsating current, as by neon, argon or mercury vapour vacuum tubes 5, which is supplied to a step-down transformer 7 the low voltage secondary of which is connected to the railcircuits. Fig. 1 shows a rectifier device 11 for supplying low voltage unidirectional current to the track rails, and a direct current relay 18 connected directly to the rails. Fig. 2 shows an alternating current system using a two-coil alternating-current relay, one coil 21 of which is energized from the rail circuit and the other 20 from the secondary of transformer 7. A system is also described in which the secondary coil of transformer 7 supplies current through a variable condenser to the track rails, the relay at the other end of the section being arranged as described in Specification 289,537.
