Abstract

302,979. Peter, L. H., and Westing- house Brake & Saxby Signal Co., Ltd. Sept. 24, 1927. Regulation, automatic.-The voltage across the terminals of a track relay is maintained substantially constant irrespective of changes in track-ballast resistance by connecting one or more rectifying devices across the rails at a suitable position. The Figure shows two rectifiers 12, 13, oppositely arranged so as to serve as a shunt across the relay 7 during both half-waves of the alternating current supplied to the track rails 1 from a transformer 3 through an adjustable impedance 6. The rectifiers are preferably of the metal oxide type described in Specification 257,305, [Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.].
