Abstract
419,124. Track apparatus for actuating signals on trains. COMPAGNIE DU CHEMIN DE FER METROPOLITAIN DE PARIS, 75, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris. April 20, 1934, No. 11946. Convention date, May 8, 1933. [Class 105.] Different signals are given on a train by track ramps energized with normal or reverse direct current in conjunction with an alternating current of half the voltage. The normal or reverse pulsating or steady currents select different combinations of rectifier-fed relays Ra, Rb, Rc on the locomotive whereby one particular signal relay alpha is operated to release a spring contact v which lights a lamp l and operates a recorder a. The relay Ra is energized by the pulsating ramp current flowing through a transformer T2 the secondary of which is mid-tapped and provided with two rectifiers ro so that both half waves are utilized. The relays Rb, Rc being provided with oppositely arranged rectifiers ro are respectively energized by normal and reverse currents either steady or pulsating. These relays are fed over a rearwardly arranged brush AR. A forward brush AV on encountering a ramp causes a relay Ro to lift its contacts the upper of which opens the line to the relays Ra, Rb, Rc whilst the lower energizes windings B to re-set the spring contacts v in readiness for the rear brush AR to transmit the next particular signal indication. The normal or reverse current is applied to the ramp by a reversing switch B and the alternating current is applied by a switch R1. The direct current for the ramp is provided by a tricklecharged battery A. The signal relays alpha are only energized after a time interval depending on the resistance p and the condensers y ; thus the contacts of the relays Ra, Rb, Rc must be definitely positioned. The apparatus may be arranged so that a further signal is given by applying only the alternating current to the ramp.
