Pulverulent, liquid, and gascous fuel furnaces. -In boiler furnaces having walls comprising water tubes which define a combustion space, air for combustion is admitted to the space in thin streams sweeping over the tubes. The tubes 11, 12, 13 forming the sides of the combustion space have fins 24 extending about half the length of the tubes and offset with respect to one another so as to provide air slits 25 between adjacent fins. Through these slits air enters the combustion space from a casing 22 supplied with preheated air from a conduit 23 with a damper 28. Below the fins 24 the tubes 11, 12, 13 have fins 26 arranged to abut, and similar fins are provided on the roof tubes 16. Fuel is admitted together with a portion of the air for combustion bv burners 21 at the corners of the combustion chamber, the air supply around the burner nozzles being controlled by dampers 29 movable towards or away from the discharge end of the nozzles.
