Abstract

190,502. Crawford, G. S. Feb. 20, 1922. Skid. - In a skid brake for motor vehicles comprising shoes a having rollers b adapted to contact with both the wheel and the ground when in operation, each driving-wheel is provided with a shoe, the devices being rigidly connected to each other so as to act in unison. The shoes are held out of action by a rod c which supports a connecting cross-rod d. The rod c is withdrawn to release the shoes by a spring e when a catch f is raised by the driver by means of a member g, or the catch may be released by a passenger. The movement cf the shoes is limited by rods h working in guides. The action may be assisted by springs. The mounting of the shoes may be eccentric to the axle, or may be given a little play. In a modification, the shoes are located below the footboards of the vehicle.
