Fire-bars and grates.-The grate-bars of a travelling stoker are so arranged that their rear ends do not project beyond the rear pivots of their carrying links. As shown, the links 6 carry transverse bars 7 having enlarged heads 8, on which intermeshing grate-bars 10 are mounted by slotted extensions 9, so that the centre of the bars are forward of the centres of the links. The bars consist of a central portion 10 and ribbed forward and rear extensions 11, 12, the rear extensions terminating substantially above the rear pivots of the links 6.
