Fire-bars and grates.-In a chain-grate stoker of the type having transverse rows of grate-bars pivoted at one end on transverse bearers and freely supported at the other end by transverse members, the bars are retained by jaws sliding on to bulbous-headed bearers. Each grate-bar a has a jaw f which slides on to the bulbousheaded bearer b, which is rigidly attached to the supporting-member c by a piece d bolted to a link-shaped member g. A plain link k connects adjacent members g.
