Grates.-The links A of a travelling grate are mounted on rotatable carrying and locking rods C the cross-sectional areas of which have a maximum and a minimum width corresponding with the maximum and minimum width of open-ended slots B formed in the links. Locking-plates D or other means are provided on the ends of pairs of the rods C to prevent the links from becoming disengaged from the rods.
