Abstract

234,897. Bennis, A. W. March 4, 1924. Grates.-In a link for a chain grate of the kind in which the eye portions of the links are half the width of the body portion and lie on opposite sides thereof, the pivot holes 2. Fig. 3, are arranged below the middle of the link. Dowels 11 and sockets 12 are arranged on the sides of the link and engage with sockets and dowels on adjacent links. The body portion of the link is extended at 5 to overlap the end of an adjacent link while the links are horizontal. During the passage of the links around the drums a space 6 is formed between the links to allow for the passage of ash. The intermediate, and side driving links as shown in Fig. 1 are of greatest width at their upper and lower portions 9, 10. Fig. 6 shows a link of the renewable locking type adapted to engage with its pivotal supporting rods by slots 2<d> arranged at right angles, although the slots may be arranged at other angles or may be parallel.
