Abstract

1,171,654. Stacking collapsible containers. KONE OSAKEYHTIO. 22 Feb., 1967 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 8491/67. Heading B8P. [Also in Division E2] A collapsible container has oval holes 10, Fig. 5, in the underside of corner brackets 9, Fig. 1, of its base 1 and in corner posts 8 at 11 so that, when turnbuckles 12 are unscrewed and tubes 5 removed to allow the two ends of the container to be pivoted by hinge pins 2 end lie flat on top of the base, Fig. 3 (not shown), the holes 11 of the posts lie adjacent the holes 10, Fig. 5, in a like container stacked on top of the first, and a locking piece 14 may be inserted into the two holes to lock the containers together. The container has a corrugated metal panel end wall 3 and may have a removable top of corner tubes, with a tarpaulin or top panels placed over them. The locking piece has a pivot-pin 16 of polygonal crosssection with transverse stops 17, 18 at either end extending through a frame 14. When the locking piece is in position the transverse stops 17, 18 extend through the oval holes 10, 11 while the frame 14 is sandwiched between the two collapsed containers. A laterally open slot 19 in the locking piece frame 14 allows the pivot-pin 16 to be turned by a key, so that the transverse stops 17, 18 catch behind the edges of the oval holes 10, 11.
