Abstract
1,048,117. Crates. R. MIOCQUE. Oct. 5, 1964 [Oct. 4, 1963], No. 40421/64. Heading B8P. In a collapsible crate the sides 1-10 are pivotably connected by horizontal end laths 13, 14 which are urged together centrally and joined by vertical boards 11, 12 during assembly, so that they exert pressure on the vertical posts 3, 4. In the embodiment shown the crate is provided with a detachable lid, the projecting ends of which engage under the end wall laths, and a detachable bottom. The lid and bottom may be interchangeable. In the embodiment of Fig. 6 (not shown) the lid is hinged to one side by ropes 49, 50 and the bottom pivoted to the other side, between the post 44, 45. The lid and bottom are folded inwards between the side wall posts so that the crate may be collapsed to a flat condition. Stacked crates are locked together during transport by projections 57, 58 engaging recesses 55, 56. Wheels, which only engage the floor in the tilted position of the crate, may be provided in holes in the laths 53, 54.
