Abstract

1,025,888. Collapsible boxes. M.E.P. CO. Ltd. Oct. 1, 1964 [July 10, 1963], No. 27226/63. Heading B8P. A collapsible container comprises three sides 13-15 hinged to a base 10 and a top 18 hingedly or pivotally attached to one of said sides and two front-doors 16, 17 hinged to opposite sides forming the fourth side. In the erected position cleats 26 carried on corner members 24, 25 of the end wall project through holes in the side walls and are engaged by hooks on the walls. To collapse the box the doors are swung back against the sides and the lid slid down the end wall until the stud 30 engages the end 34 of the slot 31. The walls 15, 13 are folded on to the base in turn so that the walls are enclosed between the base and the lid, and the parts secured by bars holding the lid and base together. The base is provided with beams 35 having eyes at their ends for the attachment of sling ropes. The box may be made of aluminium alloy.
