Definitions
- the invention relates to a glazed element with high insulating power provided with a plastic profile, in particular intended to be fixed to a structure carrier.
- She is more particularly interested in fixing glass elements with high insulating power on a supporting structure by a technique consisting in fixing said elements by their periphery using a peripheral frame plastic.
- the glazed elements thus fixed are glazing monolithic or laminated glazing.
- such glazing due to their structure and their mechanical behavior, can easily be fitted with profiles on the periphery.
- Usual injection deposition techniques a plastic profile on monolithic or laminated glazing have been widely described in numerous documents. These techniques have is the subject of much research and improvement. They are on time perfectly mastered and widely used. However these types glazing does not meet the criteria for acoustic and thermal comfort sought in recent constructions.
- Each of the substrates can be a unitary glass plate or present a laminated structure.
- the techniques usual deposit of a peripheral plastic frame pose certain problems. Indeed, such insulating glazing is not studied for withstand high pressures at the periphery, this due to the nature of the joints sealing devices.
- the application of high pressures such as, for example example, those necessary in the thermoplastic injection technique, would crush the peripheral seal and therefore, as a result, peripheral deformation of the glass sheets constituting the insulating glazing, deformation weakening the insulating glass and may even cause its bursting.
- European patent EP-B-236 211 describes a glazing comprising two glass sheets separated by a dehydrated air knife. The peripheral seal is obtained by reactive injection in situ under high pressure. To produce this glazing, a device is proposed comprising means for traction pressing each glass sheet of the glazing against a wall of the mold during the molding operation. In this way, the crushing of the joint device is deleted.
- the usual insulating glazing provides insulation thermal considered unsatisfactory for certain applications.
- it is known to produce glazing comprising three sheets of glass and one air knives which can be replaced by a gas such as Krypton.
- These glazings have significantly improved insulation properties but have a structure and mechanical behavior such that it is not easy to use, in particular in fixtures of the hanging glazing type.
- the object of the invention is to produce insulating glazing provided with a frame plastic device obviating various drawbacks previously mentioned.
- the subject of the invention is therefore a glazed element with high insulating power composed of at least two sheets of glass between which a vacuum has been made, separated from each other by studs distributed over the entire surface and joined at their periphery by a mineral sealing joint, this glazed element being such that at least part of its outer surface is covered by at at least one plastic profile and preferably at least part of its periphery on at least one of its faces.
- Patent application EP-A-O 645 516 describes an insulating glazing composed of two glass sheets separated from each other by a weak space in which the vacuum was created. Glass sheets are separated one of the other by studs distributed over the entire surface and joined to their peripheries by a mineral sealing joint.
- the structure of such glazing has the advantage of giving it rigidity and strength equivalent to those of a monolithic glazing of thickness equal to the sum of the thicknesses glass sheets, i.e. glass sheets behave as only one whose thickness is the sum of the two.
- This type of glazing presents advantageously a small thickness for insulation properties significantly improved thermal performance.
- the glass element at the top insulating power due to its mechanical behavior, does not require load-bearing frames unlike the usual insulating glazing. So the snap such glazed elements can be produced by means of profiles in plastic material positioned on at least one face of said glazed element in periphery and this without risk of damage to the glazed element, in particular of the peripheral seal.
- the plastic profile also covers the edge and / or both sides of the glazed element.
- the contact surface between the glazed element and the material profile plastic is more important and the maintenance of the glazed element can be achieved mechanically and / or by gluing.
- the plastic profile covers the entire periphery of the element.
- this arrangement of the plastic profile greatly facilitates all handling, transport and installation operations on site. Indeed, it improves the protection of the glazing and more particularly of its edges with in particular the possibility of stacking glazing on each others without having to interpose shims, the glazed surfaces not being contact with each other due to the extra thickness of the profiles.
- the part outside of the plastic profile masking its own inner part and the peripheral seal of the glazed element which can either be tinted, or be painted to match the load-bearing structure on which the glazed element is intended to be fixed.
- the plastic profile is a overmolded profile obtained by thermoplastic injection or by reactive injection.
- the overmolding technique by injecting an entourage around the periphery of a monolithic or laminated glazing has been described in numerous documents in particular in patents EP-B-127 546 and EP-B-145 443.
- the inventors were able to demonstrate that the application of such overmolding techniques by injection on glazed elements according to the invention makes it possible to produce plastic profiles without risk of degradation or bursting of the glass element.
- the mechanical strength of these glazed elements being equivalent to that of monolithic elements, it is possible to apply strong pressures on the edges of the glazed element unlike insulating glazing usual.
- this injection molding technique is used when the plastic profile covers at least one side and the song of the glass element.
- the plastic profile is an extruded profile.
- extruded profile is meant all types of profile prefabricated by extrusion which can be glued to the glazed element or extruded directly on the glass element.
- the technique of depositing a frame by extrusion made of elastomer on monolithic or laminated glazing has been described in numerous documents, in particular in European patents EP-B-121 481 and EP-B-524 092. The inventors have been able to demonstrate that the use of such conventional extrusion deposition techniques are no problem with the glazed element according to the invention.
- this technique of extrusion deposition is used when the plastic profile covers only one side of the glazed element.
- the profiled material plastic has, substantially in the plane of the glazed element, a portion projecting constituting an element of a fixing assembly.
- the glazed element provided with such a profile can be easily attached to a supporting structure, for example, by gluing said projecting part onto the supporting structure, by nailing through said projecting part or else by any other means known to those skilled in the art.
- said projecting part of the material profile plastic can constitute a means of centering the glazed element on the load-bearing structure, for example, when it consists of a set cells inside which the glazed element is embedded.
- the projecting part of said plastic profile has projecting areas such as legs, ledges, stops, helping to set up, wedge and / or fixing of said glazed element.
- the plastic profile has a shape appropriate to the type of attachment envisaged for a type of application concerned such as, for example, a sealing lip at the level of the upper surface of the glazed element and a hooking tab at the level of the protruding part of said profile for mounting in tortoiseshell type for the roofing.
- the paw attachment allows the glazed elements to be positioned on a regular basis level of the battens of the frame and the sealing lip then comes in contact with the upper glazed element which partially overlaps said glazed element in order to thus seal the assembly at this level overlap.
- At least one insert is embedded in the plastic profile.
- the presence of such inserts, for example in metal, allows the fixing of the glazed element to a structure carrier, this fastening can be for example of the snap type or screwing type, or allows the fixing of the glazed elements between them.
- the glass sheets of the glazed element undergoes a tempering treatment. This quenching allows reinforce the resistance of the glass sheets when creating the vacuum, as well than the overall resistance of the glazed element in its various applications.
- At least one of the glass sheets has advantageously a low-emissive layer on its internal face, that is to say on the face in contact with the studs. This layer can contribute to the thermal insulation function.
- the invention also relates to the use of the pre-defined glazed element.
- a first use concerns the constitution of roofs, glazed elements acting as tiles or covering panels.
- the constitution of roofing is carried out by fixing said glazed elements by nailing, screwing or stapling through the projecting part of said material profiles plastic.
- a second use concerns the constitution of building facades large areas.
- This type of application makes it possible to realize facades of building entirely made up of glazed elements, some transparent playing the role of glazing-vision, the other opaque, generally acting of lighters.
- Such facades have a minimum of surface discontinuity views from the outside.
- a third use concerns the constitution of doors or walls climatic chambers.
- This type of application has the advantage of realizing, for a small wall thickness, very high thermal insulation for this type of use, thermal insulation which cannot be obtained with usual insulating glazing with an overall thickness meeting the criteria size and visibility.
- Figure 1 a top view of a glazed element with high insulating power provided at these four corners with a plastic profile.
- Figure 2 a top view of a glazed element with high insulating power provided on its entire periphery with a plastic profile.

- the glass element 1 with high insulating power consists of two sheets of glass 2 and 3 between which a vacuum 4 has been created, separated from each other by studs 5 distributed over the entire surface and joined at their periphery by a mineral seal 6.
- the glass sheet 2 is coated on its face internal of a low emissive layer 7.
- This layer is for example of the type that described in French patent n ° 2 701 474 filed in the name of SAINT-GOBAIN VITRAGE INTERNATIONAL.
- the studs 5 have a thickness of 0.2 millimeter and a diameter of 0.4 millimeter. They are spread over the whole surface of the glass sheets and are spaced from each other by 30 millimeters.
- the studs 5 are placed on one of the glass sheets 2 and 3 after these have been coated with a low-emissive layer 7, for example by pyrolysis, then soaked.
- a low-emissive layer 7 for example by pyrolysis
- the two glass sheets 2 and 3 are assembled then heat treatment of the assembly is carried out weld the two glass sheets 2 and 3, the seal 6 then realizing the tightness of the assembly.
- the glazed element is then ready to be fitted with a plastic profile.
- FIG. 1 represents the glazed element 1, the four corners of which are covered with a plastic profile 8.

- FIG. 2 represents the glazed element 1, the edge of which is illustrated by a dotted line 20 and the entire periphery of which is covered by a profile 10 made of plastic.
- this profile 10 allows the mechanical attachment of the assembly to a load-bearing structure, and this by attachment points 11. Points hooking other than located in the corners are also possible. The number of hanging points will be determined according to the size of element 1, the type of application envisaged and the aesthetics sought.
- Profiles 8 and 10 are preferably obtained either by injection thermoplastic or by reactive injection, either by extrusion.
- Injection deposition techniques have been described in numerous documents. They generally consist of setting up on the edge of the element, a mold formed of two mold halves, which defines the mold cavity. After closing the mold, the mold cavity is filled with plastic. When the plastic material the inside of the mold forms a profile no longer deforming, the mold is open and the element thus framed is removed from the mold.
- the plastic is a reaction mixture that expands into the cavity and forms a body molded porous with an envelope ensuring sealing.
- thermoplastic injection deposition technique the cavity of the mold is filled with thermoplastic material melted under pressure relatively high.
- extrusion deposition technique has also been described in numerous documents such as for example in European patent EP-B-524 092. In general, it consists in using a robot which moves a extrusion nozzle at the periphery of the element in order to deposit a profile therein plastic material according to a determined trajectory whether continuous or not, the nozzle being fed with plastic from an extruder by through a pressure hose.
- an adhesion promoter deposited at the periphery of the glass element.
- priming composition as an adhesion promoter depends on the nature of the profile.
- This composition is, for example, type of that described in European patents EP 0 574 315 and EP 0 603 072, that is to say based on at least one silane and a composition capable of to form a layer with free hydroxyl groups.
- This kind of composition gives good results for material profiles thermoplastic such as, for example, polyurethane.
- FIG. 3 represents a first embodiment of the glazed element according to the invention.
