From the bestselling author of Hidden Pictures comes a breathtaking work of suspense about a father trying to save his daughter from a life-altering decision that will put everything he loves on the line.
Frank Szatowski is shocked when his daughter, Maggie, calls him for the first time in three years. He was convinced that their estrangement would become permanent. He’s even more surprised when she invites him to her upcoming wedding in New Hampshire. Frank is ecstatic, and determined to finally make things right.
He arrives to find that the wedding is at a private estate—very secluded, very luxurious, very much out of his league. It seems that Maggie failed to mention that she’s marrying Aidan Gardner, the son of a famous tech billionaire. Feeling desperately out of place, Frank focuses on reconnecting with Maggie and getting to know her new family. But it’s difficult: Aidan is withdrawn and evasive; Maggie doesn’t seem to have time for him; and he finds that the locals are disturbingly hostile to the Gardners. Frank needs to know more about this family his daughter is marrying into, but if he pushes too hard, he could lose Maggie forever.
An edge-of-your-seat thriller that delves deep into the heart of one family, The Last One at the Wedding is a work of brilliant suspense from a true modern master.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Oct 30, 2024 It was okay. After reading Hidden Pictures, I went into this book with extremely high expectations, and I think that was my #1 mistake. The storyline certainly wasn’t bad, and it kept my attention, but I was expecting to be scared out of my wits like I was during Hidden Pictures, and this story was moreso a good ole fashioned murder mystery… although you have a good idea who was behind the murder all along. Sure, there are some twists and turns, but they weren’t earth shattering… or even neck-turning. At best, they were expected. And ordinary. It was a nice story, but this won’t be one I’ll be recommending my friends. I’ll definitely direct them to Hidden Pictures and tell them this one is an easy skip that they won’t be missing much out on.1 person found this helpful

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5May 9, 2025 I liked the twists and turns but the story just wasn’t for me.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5May 5, 2025 Book is fine, not great but ok. The audiobook is awful. I hate when they have men read both female and male roles. Tammy’s “voice” was the worst. Listened to it for only a few chapters and then just read the rest
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Apr 22, 2025 It seems that I don't have luck with the mystery books on the goodreads nominee list. Apart form Abigail I hated all of the characters of this novel (don't know if this was intentional from the author or not, but if yes, than he succeeded with flying colors). Frank was annoying, grumpy and bullheaded with full of prejudice. His behavior towards Abigail in 70% of the book was just pure mean. His sister, Tamy was overall a good person, but so irritatingly naive and patronizing in some parts. His daughter Maggie and the Gardners were just outrageous (btw. the scene when Frank get's in first contact with Aiden's mother is just disgusting). The ending was dragged and dragged, it was a real struggle to get to the end.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Mar 5, 2025 I really liked this book, it kept me guessing and I love Frank as a character!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Mar 2, 2025 I absolutely loved it, was very emotional at the end. Highly recommend.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Jan 28, 2025 The story line centered around a father and a grown daughter who is have been estranged but she has reached out to him because she is getting married. Their relationship is rocky and the reader slowly finds out why during the week of the wedding. So there is both a mystery and family dynamics involved. I enjoyed the audio book. This is the second book I’ve read by this author. I would definitely read more by him.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Nov 5, 2024 I really tried but it just was not getting any better. No suspense just going on and on. Did not finish
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Nov 12, 2024 This book touched my heart. This is the first psychological thriller that not only had a great twist and all the makings of a great psychological thriller, but the way he told the story made me feel connected to the characters. At one point I started to cry. There was goodness amongst all the chaos and drama. I loved it!!!1 person found this helpful
