Aliens

Jung and Nietzsche each made the great discovery of a reality that “overcomes” the opposites. Nietzsche, the linguistic scholar and philosopher, referred to this reality as self-presentational language while Jung, the psychologist, names it as the objective psyche. Both agree that this reality is “alive,” with its own intentionality. For the purposes of this essay I will call it living language.  The discoveries of both pioneers inaugurated a blossoming of cultural practices, founded on incomplete interpretations of the telos of this living language, which articulate the emergence of a variety of possible worlds, among them the worlds of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, biotechnology, nanotechnology, etc.  This essay attempts to describe a cultural practice that could emerge from a more complete understanding of the telos of the psyche, or living language, a practice that can articulate and manifest the possible world of the posthuman.

After an effort of many years, I have prepared a comprehensive timeline of UFO history that will be useful to UFO researchers and historians. “UFOs and Intelligence” is an up-to-date retrospective of UFO history (from Agobard of Lyons to the newly appointed US investigation agency UAPTF), intertwined with events in US and world history concerning military and civilian intelligence agencies and the cult of secrecy. It is now 679 pages and more than 555,000 words (including a substantial “Sources and Further Reading” appendix). Readers will discover or rediscover many events, people, and UFO cases they may not be familiar with. Some will find it useful for current or planned research projects. Military cases, those involving commercial aircraft, close encounters involving physical traces and other evidence, reports involving occupants or entities, and events surrounding military and sensitive nuclear sites are emphasized, but this timeline covers the full spectrum of UFO history, from contactee experiences to misidentifications of mundane phenomena and notorious hoaxes. Links to online sources are given, and links to biographical information are provided when available. A timeline like this allows us to view events from a different perspective, letting us make connections we might not otherwise see. It forces us to view the big picture, amid the grand flow of UFO cases, military security decisions, a vast swathe of personalities, and world history.

A detailed discussion is presented highlighting the most common characteristic of the reptilians and their hybrid cohorts. It is elucidated that the negative aliens are highly, violent, warring, separatist, disconnected, narcissistic, selfish, egotistical, psychopathic and sociopathic form of beings with strong proclivity to anger and apathy for others who are utterly void of compassion, empathy, or love or emotions for that matter except anger. They also highly venerate physical strength above anything else and use it effectively to wage wars against others, conquer them and putting them in bondage for free labor. Being energetically parasitic-vampiric, not being able to sustain themselves against inevitable self-consumption, they use the same motivation and disposition with utter cunningness and deceptiveness in search of the conquest of solar organic sentient consciousness beings in order to siphon, harvest, and prey upon their energies as a food source in which they feel they need to keep them in a state of unconsciousness enslavement so they do not know what is happening to them. Being void of solar organic consciousness and unable to consciously vibrate, they are often very afraid of solar light or sunshine. They are soulless and void of any organic consciousness embodiment and are non-sentient beings unable to 'sense' the progression of time whatsoever. Thus, evolution is not a factor in their question of artificial existence nor is multidimensionality living multiple lives at the same time, being robots, cyborgs, automatons, and a form of dead energy. They exist as automatons surviving within a hive organization or society and they strictly adhere to a pyramidal hierarchical structure in which those deemed as stronger and superiors reside on progressively the higher pyramidal scale. They are also a highly envious, greedy, avaricious group of beings who perceive themselves as superior to others and entitled to pillage and plunder others' belongings and energetic resources including their consciousness energies upon which they are dependent to survive. This has made them essentially a glutinous lustful group of beings also prone to sloth, reaping the benefit of hard labor of the others. Also being such narcissists, self-supremacists, and elitists, they have digressed to believe in racial and other forms of prejudices including the repugnant dogma of eugenics. Finally, a most distasteful trait that they are associated with is that of delusional sense of male-supremacy giving rise to a patriarchal domination dogma of existence as well as misogyny, viewing the female as weak and "worthless" unlike their males as the epitome of physical strength, forever in search of hunting-gathering, war and conquest, as a means for distinction and veneration.

The several sectarian texts from among the DSS that contain references to גרים pose significant problems for the historian. How should we translate the term-"permanent resident alien," as in Scripture, or "Gentile proselyte," as in rabbinic literature? Why do some texts, such as the Damascus Rule and 4QLots, treat the גר positively, while others, such as 4QFlorilegium, are entirely hostile? In view of the sect's general rejection of outsiders, especially Gentiles, in texts such as the War Rule and 4QMMT, how can the positive references to גרים be explained? Widely varying solutions have been proposed, all of which assume that the term designates a real social group within the sect. This essay tentatively proposes an alternative thesis: while גר seems to designate Gentile converts in sectarian texts, the category is a legal fiction created on the basis of Scripture-it seems highly unlikely that Gentiles ever joined the sect. Positive portraits of גרים in sectarian texts come from interest in crafting halakah for the pre-eschatological age that reflects scriptural law as faithfully as possible. Since throughout Scripture the גר is portrayed as participating in Israelite assemblies, cultic worship, and juridical
activity, and since numerous laws protect them from abuse and guarantee their access to material support when in need, the laws of D and other texts provide for similar inclusion. The Covenanters also thought of the גר's inclusion as temporary: eschatologically oriented texts show anticipation that the land, people, and cult of Israel would be purged entirely of Gentiles, including "good" גרים. This purge of Gentiles would at last fulfill God's command to Moses, to rid the land of idolatrous peoples. My proposal describes a consistent, if complex, attitude toward גרים in all sectarian texts that treat them. It also highlights the complexity of the Covenanters' halakah: some laws were intended to be followed in the present but not in restored Israel; others could not be followed at all in the present but would be at the restoration; still others could be followed partially now, but only fully with restoration. A few laws could neither be followed in the present nor in restored Israel, but had to be included in sectarian halakah due to the recurrence of their themes throughout Scripture. In this last category are laws that treat גרים.

Este trabajo aborda la medicion de la integracion social de la persona inmigrante a traves de indicadores. Se senala la prioridad de la cuestion como forma de evaluar la distancia entre la realidad social y el tenor de la ley. Se define que es un indicador y especialmente como deben utilizarse los indicadores sociales para medir la integracion de la persona inmigrante. ABSTRACT: the Court of Justice rules that a national legislation as the Dutch legislation, which denies the insolvency benefit in favor of foreign employees in irregular situation, is contrary to the EU Law. The Judgment can be analyzed from the two legal rationales under the issue: the social policy and the immigration policy. This approach permits to conclude that the ruling is right, although some arguments are unconvincing.

From  killer  machines  to  benign  aliens  and  reliable  androids, director, screenwriter and producer James Cameron has included a variety of technological, non-human  identities  in  his  films.  The  aim  of  this  paper  is  to  provide examples  of  the cinematic discourse used to depict these entities, based on examples from Cameron's films such as The Terminator, The Abyss and Aliens, as well as possible interpretations of this discourse.

During America’s Bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence in 1976, Hayden served as Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress, in the first of his two-term tenure (1976–77 and 1977–78).

That same position later became known as “Poet Laureate of the United States” in 1985.

As America’s Bicentennial poet laureate and the first African American poet laureate, Hayden rose to the occasion by offering a poem about America.

That poem is “American Journal” (1976).

“American Journal” may thus be regarded as America’s “Bicentennial poem.”

Implicit in Robert Hayden’s “[American Journal]” is this thesis:
Social maturity is coefficient with human solidarity.

This thesis unifies the various kinds of identity that this compressed and kaleidoscopic poem treats.

As a literary tube of mirrors, “American Journal” implicitly describes social identities that render the American experience decidedly multidimensional.

Internal evidence suggests that Hayden treats American identity in nine dimensions:

(1) Landscape Identity;
(2) Alien (Individual) Identity;
(3) Racial Identity;
(4) Political Identity;
(5) Class Identity;
(6) Material Identity;
(7) Religious Identity;
(8) American (National) Identity;
(9) Human Identity.

In the modernist collage of anecdotal scenes and sustained ironies that comprise “American Journal,” these nine dimensions operate as a multifaceted prism of American mentality and potentiality.

On viewing Hayden’s “[American Journal]” through this dimensional prism, America emerges as a work-in-progress—episodically revised by crisis after crisis—an experiment through which the meaning of humanity may be universalized.

This “work” will progress until it reaches a stage in which the interplay of competing identities is seen as a stable matrix—an ideal array of integrative identities (reflecting Hayden’s general orientation as a Bahá’í).

This optic will apply to the inarticulate yet implicitly unitive moral of “American Journal”—a message in a bottle, as it were.

America, in the poet’s musing, is caught up in a socially adolescent identity crisis. America has yet to mature until it resolves its fundamental identity crisis. This, in the broader context, is a defining social problematic of the world at large.

Our special thesis is that “America” itself—as portrayed in “American Journal” and as analytically illuminated by the nine dimensions previously described—operates topically and tropically as an emblematic problematic in humanity.

The problem is not with any identity in particular. It is when particular identities alienate.

In composing “American Journal,” Hayden—who is acutely aware of this “strangering” or schisming dynamic—contrives a reconnaissance mission involving a fictive visit by a man from Mars.

An inverse of NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter launched in 2005, Hayden launches his own probe of planet Earth, to explore American alienation through the eyes of an alien from outer space, who defines the core and refines the crux of American identity.

A little-known pastime of the late UFO authority Dr. J. Allen Hynek was his interest in stereoscopic photography.
Recently, images related to his UFO investigations between 1962 and 1982 have surfaced, adding a new dimension to
Hynek's persona.

The motif of the competition between the monstrous mother and the young maiden appear both in early European variants of the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ fairy tale as well as in the late 20th-century science fiction movies Alien and Aliens. However, both the fairy tale and the science fiction movies complicate the binary between the good and bad women, and by deconstructing this binary we can see how the evil mothers and the alien queens can be sympathetic while Ripley and Sleeping Beauty also have their monstrous sides.

What kind of event could destabilize, simultaneously, planetary trajectories and existential subjectivities? We argue that an encounter with an alien logic has the power to irrevocably dislodge common sense thinking from conventional spaces that have been molded into representational thought. To invoke such an experience, we draw on specific narrative elements in Ted Chiang’s “Story of Your Life” as well as its cinematic adaptation, Arrival, to elucidate how subjectivity can become reconstructed, existentially, through language and time in very precise, yet nonlinear ways. Categorically speaking, this essay designates the highly interactive, embodied procedures involved in the production of subjectivity under a rubric of three: apocalypse, a solution to the non-zero-sum game and a planetary event of post-anthropocentric ramifications; language, a new use of symbols in affective and transformational communicativity; and temporality, a remembering of the future and a vision of self-destiny.

ABSTRACT
Robert Hayden was made poet laureate of Senegal in 1966 and ten years later became America's first black poet laureate. Acclaimed as "People's Poet" early in his career, later he was severely criticized for refusing to call himself a "Negro poet," even though he wrote some of the most powerful "black history" poems in the English language. Hayden transcended the identity politics of what W. E. B. Du Bois called "art as propaganda"-something that elite African-American artists (the Talented Tenth) were expected to produce. On the principle that race divides while a higher identity unifies, Hayden presented himself as an American poet rather than as a black poet. His greatness is that he was really both, and that his art was a fusion music of the American experience.

For Hayden, craftsmanship was essential — a marriage between matter and manner, as Gwendolyn Brooks once described it. With missionary zeal, Hayden experimented with forms and techniques in an effort to arrive at what he characterized as something distinctively individual, patterned, yet wild and free. This even included expanding the language itself, with such neologisms as "soulscape," "snowlight," "lifeswawk," "mimosa's fancywork," and "Absolute Otherwhere." The reader encounters such expressions as "moonstruck trees," "auroral dark," "famine fields," "jazzbo strutting of a mouse," "totemic flowers," "paleocrystic ice," "elegiac lace," "glaucous poison jewels," and "blazonry of farewell scarlet."

Adaptation was Hayden's primary method of innovation. Form flowed from content. Protean in his technique, Hayden employed a range of poetic and rhetorical devices to evoke each experience he sought to create. He was a virtuoso of rhythm, tonality, repetition, irony, oxymoron, paradox, and symbolism. Using sense to intensify, Hayden primarily relied on visual and auditory images. His gift for visual imagery grew out of his handicapped sight. Sensitivity to sound, tone, and cadence sprang from a keen sense of hearing, which Hayden developed to compensate for his poor vision. His work is full of dramatic tension, edged by irony, and tempered by religious emotions as echoes of the human spirit.

As an American shaman, Hayden was an oracle mediating between gods and mortals. His poetry was medicinal. On a personal level, it provided psychic therapy, self-medication. Although he was not a confessional poet, his reminiscence poems were cathartic. Those Winter Sundays is the best example; at a number of his readings, people in the audience would be brought to tears by it. On a social level, his poems promoted racial healing.

The first African-American poet laureate, Hayden was decidedly transracial in that role at the American bicentennial. This is poignantly exemplified in the deliciously wry title poem of his last book, American Journal, in which the poet assumes the mask of an extraterrestrial, reporting his anthropological observations of Americans to his superiors, the Counselors. More human than racial, Hayden truly was an "alien, at home."

Corroborating contemporary biographers report that Jesus of Nazareth was born of a virgin, changed water to wine, made the blind see, healed the lame, raised the dead, walked on water, calmed a violent storm, fed 5,000 people with five loaves and two fishes, lived again after his execution, and ascended into the clouds. According to witnesses and contemporary biographers, this Jesus also made the listed claims.

This paper-presentation explores the sci-fi short story “Story of Your Life” from Ted Chiang’s anthology “Stories of Your Life” and its cinematic adaptation, “Arrival” released in 2017. This story and its film adaptation are interesting for their peculiarity as a pseudo-phenomenology of an alternative temporal ontology. Rather than imagining a world that is alternative or queer for its aberrations within the exclusively dominant ontology we are familiar with, he imagines a world where one can experience a new temporal ontology altogether, one that is either coextensive with or subsumes our dominant temporal ontology, rather than being subsumed by it. Chiang’s protagonist does not supplant her physical brain with a new one somehow more capable—it is her own very human, very relatable brain that extends to reach new ontological territory. His piece and its film adaptation are examples of why it is worthwhile to support the kind of well-informed intellectual explorations that science fiction has to offer in order to help humans better understand and potentially expand their brain states, and to better reach for new realms in the world that may be closer to grasp than we even know. We should continue to explore the viability of sci-fi narratives as a legitimate tool for enabling, fostering, or reaching closer to alternative cognitive modes, as opposed to seeking the thrill of temporary states. Such exercises may, perhaps, make us better prepared for actual first contact. [Please contact me to read the full paper].

Wells (1866-1946) authored a paper titled, “Is There Life on the Planets?” in 1888 which is considered the first draft of the 1893 paper “The Man of the Year Million” which, in turn, was later revised as “Of a Book Unwritten.” It set the stage for technology spiked evolution leading to the stereotypical "gray alien" visage.
