DESIGN G. L. DREHER. HANDLE FOR QANBS, UMBRBLLAS, 8w.
19,846. Patented May 20, 1890.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES L. DREIIER, OF LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR CANES, UMBRELLAS, 86C- SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,846, dated May 20, 1890.
Application filed April 16 1890. Sczial No. 348,235. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES L. DREHER Of Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Designs for Cane and Umbrella and Parasol Handles; and I do hereby declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in designs for cane, umbrella, and parasol handles; and it consists in the conventional representation of a shepherds crook, around the surface of which are a number of grooves or beads in imitation of a spirally-wound cord or other similar device, as will be more fully described hereinafter.
The accompanying photographic representation shows a side elevation of a handle showing my design.
A represents the main portion of the handle,
which is shaped somewhat similar to a shepherds crook, and which has a curved outline and in general contour tapers to the outer end. At the inner end of this handle A are formed the two horizontal beads 13, which are separated a suitable distance apart. Formed around this handle A are the inclined beads C, which represent a cord or other similar object, which is wrapped around the curved portion, as shown. The outer and upper end of the hook is curved outward to the point D, as shown, imparting to the handle a continuous curve from one end to the other and givingit a pleasing shape.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The design for a cane, umbrella, or parasol handle, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHAS. L. DREHER.
