H. 0. SCHMIDT. CANE 0R UMBRELLA HANDLE.
19.947. Patented June 24. 1890.
WZtke-sseo m UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY O. SCHMIDT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO SIMONS, BROTHER & 00., OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A CANE OR UMBRELLA HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,947, dated June 24, 1890.
Application filed Apr-i115, 1890. Serial No. 348,106. Term of patent 3% yen-a.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY O. SCHMIDT, a citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cane or Umbrella Handles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing illustrates a side elevation of a cane or umbrella handle embodying my new design, in which A is the lower part of the handle, surmounting the base-rings F and branching at the upper part into the short shank C and the long shank B. These parts A, B, and O are formed with longitudinal ribs, as shown, which may be of plain or shaded metal, and said ribs are made to branch or run into each other. The ends E of the shanks or parts B and C may be plain. At intervals, over the parts A, B, and O are disposed ornamental flower designs D. The base F is an annular band or hands.
The handle is made of any suitable material.
Having now described my new design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for umbrella or cane handles, substantially as herein described and shown.
In testimonyof which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
HENRY O. SCHMIDT. Witnesses:
G. T. KENTER, FRANK H. SHERWOOD.
