Description

03-16 AU 292 EX DESIGN.
H. O. SCHMIDT, CANE 0R UMBRELLA HANDLE.
No. 19,957. Patented July .1, 1890.
Witnesses Inventor UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY O. SCHMIDT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO SIMONS, BROTHER & 00., OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A CANE OR UMB RELLA HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,957, dated July 1, 1890. Application filed April 15, 1890. Serial No. 348,111. Term of patent 3% years.
York, in the county and State of New York,
have invented and produced a newand original Design for Cane or Umbrella Handles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
In the drawing is shown a side elevation of a cane or umbrella handle illustrating my new design.
A is the body portion, which extends upwardly into the flattened crook B, whose free end is curved into a more or less sharp hook. The lower part of the body is formed with an annular band C of plain surface, having upweirdly-extending ornamentation of spreading ribs G and similar downwardly-extending ornamentation D. The portion of the body below D, as at E, is shaded to make the parts D stand in high relief, and is mounted at the extreme bottom by an annularband F.
The ornamentation immediately above C and G is extended at H toward the middle of the crook, so as to form a slight horn to make the opening in the crook more pronounced. The upper edge of the crook is plain, as at I, and this part I is separated from the inner or lower portion of the crook, which is also plain, by the ornamental portion J, which ornamentation may be of any suitable configuration.
The handle is made of any suitable material.
Having now descrihed my new design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for cane or umbrella handles, substantially as herein described and shown.
In testimony of which invention 1 have hereunto set my hand.
HENRY O. SCHMIDT. Witnesses:
G. T. KENTER, FRANK H. SHERWOOD.
