UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THEOPIILUS REICIIARD, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A TOWER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,466, dated December 3, 1889.
Application filed October 30, 18 89- Serial No. 328,714- Term of patent 7 years To ail whom it may concern:
Be it known that LTHEOPHTLUS REICHARD, a citizen of the United States, and e residen t of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New Yorlghave invented and produced n new and originel Design for Towers, of which the following is a. specification, reference being had to the nccompenyi ng illustration, forming port thereof.
In the accompanying illustration is shown in front elevation zt tower produced by my new design.
The leading feature ot" my design consists in e. pyramidol outline formed by suspended cables, storting from proximate points on a central standard and intersecting each other in such o manner as thus to produce a network design surroundingthe central standard.
Referring to the illustration, o is a standard, which in gener-el contour resembles a tower. l) is the bese of the saine, having the curved outline c. (l is the bese which supports the tower. The tower c decreases in size from the bottom tothe top and terminetes in e spire o.
e e represent cables, which ere connected to the top of the tower a., and, extending down in curved lines,me attached outside the base portion d.
At the points .l and 2, on each side oi' the tower, are suspended similar cables f g, which curve outward and, converging, moet the cebles e.
From the three points 3, i, and 5 on the tower o, extend on each side a series of cables h, t', and j, each set radiating from a central point and diverging an d intersecting in curved lines the outer Cables P, and g. These cables representn. triple series of divergent lines that terminate in the outer ce1-ble, which outlines the standard o, and so produces n harmonious and beauiiful design.
The base of the tower or standard or. is ornamented by a. design formed of diagonal lines h h', cbc., intersecting cach other at uniform points to form diamond-shaped figures; but I do not confine myself to the style of ornamentation, as the novelty of my design consists in the peculiar configuration of the tower es produced by the cables extending from point to point on the saine and intersecting each other.
lVllat I claim es new, end desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for n tower, as herein shown n-nd described.
THEOPHILUS REICHARD.
